Like much of Mayfair, the area around Green Park is home to luxury hotels and upscale galleries. The Hilton London Green Park and the London Hilton on Park Lane are just north of the lush greenspace. About Green Park

Green Park was once a swampy burial ground for lepers who died in the nearby St. James's hospital. Charles II acquired the land in 1668 and converted much of it into a walled park, then known as Upper St. James's Park. The park remained isolated into the eighteenth century and was often a hangout for highwaymen and thieves on the outskirts of the capital.

Situated in the St. James's area of London within the City of Westminster, Green Park is now one of London's Royal Parks. The lush area spans 19 hectares or 47 acres, and is nestled between Hyde Park and St. James's Park. Along with Kensington Gardens, this collection of green spaces forms a stunning stretch of open land that spans much of Central London. Unlike its neighbours, Green Park does not have lakes or buildings. Monuments housed in the park include the Royal Air Force (RAF) Bomber Command Memorial, the Canada Memorial and the Diana Fountain. At the south side of the park is the Canada Gate and Buckingham Palace. The Queen's Walk was added for George II's consort, Queen Caroline.
