About Isleworth

Isleworth is a small town in the London Borough of Hounslow. Situated in the west of London, the town is just east of the town of Hounslow and west of the River Thames. The area has been largely transformed in just the past 50 years. Orchards dominated much of Isleworth during the eighteenth century, while gardens that supplied London's markets flourished during the nineteenth century.

Some of the grand mansions built during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries remain, including Syon House. Dating back to the sixteenth century, Syon House hosts regular events and exhibitions in addition to being open to the public to enjoy. Isleworth is also close to the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and Twickenham Stadium, the home of English Rugby.

The town's rural charm has changed to an increasingly urban one, although it retains a largely residential character. Old Iselworth retains many historic properties and has a village-like atmosphere with several shops and eateries. The A4 is north of Isleworth, which links the area with Heathrow Airport and the M4 motorway.

Rail services from the town's railway station provide connections to Reading and London Waterloo. At Great West Road (part of the A4), Osterley station on the London Underground's Piccadilly Line also serves Heathrow Airport as well as Central London.
