Zone 4 comprises neighbourhoods in the following local authorities: Greenwich, Brent, Enfield, Bromley, Barking, Dagenham, Lewisham, Redbridge, Hounslow, Ealing, Haringey, Epping Forest, Newham, Barnet, Bexley, Sutton, Waltham Forest, Richmond upon Thames, and Merton. The distance to Piccadilly Circus ranges between 7 and 10 miles.
Due to its proximity to Heathrow Airport, many IT companies are clustered around the Hounslow area (TW3and TW8). This area is home to multinational companies like pharmaceutical GlaxoSmithKline, Firestone, and DHL. Several airlines have their headquarters here too, including Air France and KLM. The area known as The Golden Mile (also in Hounslow) is a thriving business hub that is expected to grow even further with the arrival of Crossrail services. There are more than 1,500 companies in this area, where the main industries are logistics, transportation, and creative. Office and industrial space is also available at the various business parks in Raynes Park (SW20), Morden (SM4), Beckenham (BR3), and Elmers End (BR3). The various areas found at the south western end of Zone 4 are favoured by businesses operating in the logistics and distribution sectors, mainly because of the good road connections with the rest of the UK via the M4 and M25. The same can be said about areas like Edmonton Green (N9), Angel Road (N18), Newbury Park (IG2), and Palmers Green (N13).
Zone 4 is home to some important transportation hubs. For instance, Richmond station is used by nearly 18 million passengers every year and has railway connections to Windsor, Reading, Ashford, and Staines. Overground services link this part of London with Stratford, and there are buses linking the station with Heathrow airport. Further south in Zone 4, Mitcham Junction offers links with Tramlink services to Croydon, Beckenham, and Hayes, as well as connections with National Rail services going to Dorking and Epsom. In the east, Barking station has underground services to Aldgate, Tower Hill, Liverpool Street, Baker Street, Hammersmith, Westminster, and Earl's Court, as well as regular trains to commuter towns like Southend, Basildon, and Grays.
