Zone 8 covers stations in three Hertfordshire local authorities: Watford, Broxbourne, and Chiltern. Only one station is served by London Underground services (Chalfont and Latimer, which is on the Metropolitan Line). The remaining stations are part of the railway or London Overground network. For example, Bushey station has London Midland services to Euston, the Home Counties, the East Midlands, and Cheshire. Overground trains connect this station with Watford Junction and Euston. Cheshunt station has Abello Greater Anglia trains to Liverpool Street, Stratford, Cambridge, and other towns in Hertfordshire. Watford High Street station is also part of the London Overground network and has frequent services to Euston and connections to Watford Junction, where trains go to St Albans the Midlands, and the North West.
Like Watford, Cheshunt is considered a commuter town. However, over the past few years these two Zone 8 towns have developed their own economic base. For instance, supermarket chain Tesco has its head office just off the M25 in Cheshunt (EN8). Other companies have chosen to base themselves in the area's various business parks, which offer reasonably priced floor space and good connections to central London. Some of the most important business parks in the area include Stirling Business Park (EN8) and Theobalds Park (EN7).
