About Bishopsgate

Now home to gleaming skyscrapers of glass and steel, Bishopsgate's history stretches back to the capital's early days as a Roman settlement. The area in the City of London is named after one of the London Wall's original eight gates. The gate was first built by Romans and was rebuilt in 1471 and 1735 before being demolished in 1760. It was there that the heads of criminals were often displayed on spikes following their execution.

Although Bishopsgate is only home to just over 200 people, the area attracts tens of thousands of workers and visitors each day thanks to its position in London's main financial district.
