About Fitzrovia / Noho

Originally marketed as Noho Square, the area sits north of Oxford Street and Soho. Although local area residents disliked the branding effort, Noho is still sometimes used to refer to this part of West London. Meaning north of Soho, Noho's origins are slightly more commercial and artificial in nature when compared to other districts of the capital.

Its name emerged from rebranding efforts for the area between Oxford Street and Euston Road in what is more commonly known as Fitzrovia. These attempts to reinvent the area were led by the development of Noho Square at the former site of Middlesex Hospital. Although Noho lives on to some extent, the residential and commercial complex has been renamed as Fitzroy Place due to local resistance to the Noho name.
