About Fitzrovia / Noho
Commonly known as Fitzrovia, this area, which sits north of Oxford Street and Soho, is known primarily for its residential, business, retail, education, and healthcare mixture, as well as its formed Bohemian roots.
Some confusion arises regarding the exact name for this area, with marketing effort attempting to rebrand the area as Noho (meaning north of Soho). These attempts to reinvent the area were led by the development of Noho Square at the former site of Middlesex Hospital. However, the rebranding was met with mixed reactions by locals, with some rallying against the move on the grounds of it being overly commercial and artificial in nature. Although Noho lives on to some extent, the residential and commercial complex formerly known as Noho Square has been renamed as Fitzroy Place in reaction to the local resistance.
