Clapham is a residential district in the south of London. Some of Lambeth's most expensive housing and affluent neighbourhoods are within the district, including in Clapham Town and around Clapham Common. About Clapham

Clapham sits within the London Borough of Lambeth, although some parts including Clapham Common are in the London Borough of Wandsworth. The district in south-west London was the site of a military road during the Roman period.

Large country houses were built in the area during the seventeenth century, and by the eighteenth and early nineteenth century Clapham was a destination for wealthy merchant classes. Prominent members of the Clapham Sect lived in the area, including many social reformers who campaigned for the abolition of child labour and slavery.

Both areas are known for their mix of Queen Anne, Regency and Georgian era properties, while the Abbeville area of Clapham has many Victorian houses.
